“How Much Better Are You Than They?”

Brant Gardner

Rhetorical: Jacob continues to pound home the anomaly of the wicked Lamanites being better than the Nephites. When Jacob describes the loving relationships between spouses and children, this should be seen as contrasting with Jacob's description of the Nephite mean breaking the hearts of their wives and children. Jacob continues to use cultural assumptions of superiority to underline the degree of "evil" of the Nephite men.
