“One Day They Shall Become a Blessed People”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

There are many promises which are extended to the Lamanites, Alma explained to the wicked people of Ammonihah,

“for it is because of the traditions of their fathers that caused them to remain in their state of ignorance; therefore the Lord will be merciful unto them and prolong their existence in the land. And at some period of time they will be brought to believe in his word.”

(Alma 9:16-17.)

Likewise, in speaking of the destiny of the Lamanites, Samuel taught:

“Yea, even if they should dwindle in unbelief the Lord shall prolong their days, until the time shall come which hath been spoken of by our fathers. . . . concerning the restoration of our brethren, the Lamanites, again to the knowledge of the truth-yea, I say unto you, that in the latter times the promises of the Lord have been extended to our brethren, the Lamanites; and notwithstanding the many afflictions which they shall have. . . . the Lord shall be merciful unto them.”

(Helaman 15:11-12.)
