“The Daughters of My People”

Brant Gardner

Here starts the information on the reason for the current law in the current context. The "daughters of my people" are sad because of the wickedness and abomination of their husbands. What could be the complaint of the "daughters of my people?" We immediately suppose that it is their dislike of polygamy, but that places a very modern view on top of a very different ancient culture. If polygamy is acceptable, both legally and socially, the there is no inherent reason for complaint. There is also no "whoredom" - by definition. More information on this conundrum comes in the following verses.
