“Such Things Are Abominable Unto Him Who Created All Flesh”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

To Enoch the voice of God spoke: “Unto thy brethren have I said, and also given commandment, that they should love one another, and that they should choose me, their Father; but behold, they are without affection, and they hate their own blood” (Moses 7:33). What was true in the earliest ages of the world was true in the days of Jacob, and is true in our day.

One of the great abominations of every era of earth’s history-excepting only those sublime seasons wherein Zion was attained-is the trauma and tragedy associated with man’s inhumanity to man. Indeed, man’s mistreatment of his fellows is but a symbol of his disrespect for God (see Matthew 25:40; cf. Mosiah 2:17).
