That which we call the Golden Rule is not peculiar to the meridian of time; it has been the standard of the Lord’s people from the beginning. It is not given of the Lord that one man should possess that which is above another; consequently, until men and women learn to love, to take of the abundance which they possess and share with the less fortunate, the world will continue to lie in sin (D&C 49:20; D&C 104:17-18; see also Matthew 22:39; 3 Nephi 14:12).
