“Much Desire and Anxiety for Your Souls”

Monte S. Nyman

“I come up into the temple” (v. 2) again suggests it was inside the temple, but it probably refers to the temple complex or grounds as we would identify it today. “As yet ye have been obedient unto the word of the Lord”(v. 4) suggests that those assembled were the more faithful members of the church. Furthermore, the weight and “much more desire and anxiety for the welfare of your souls” (v. 3) reveals the eroding effect of immorality, and the responsibility for Jacob to magnify “the office of my calling” (v. 2).
