“It Speaketh of Jesus and Persuadeth Them to Believe in Him”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Nephi bears his testimony about the truth of his words and the integrity of his motivation on behalf of his people. The purpose of the word of God is to persuade us to do good, to believe in Christ, and endure to the end. Nephi is conscious of his weakness in writing. But the Lord compensates for that weakness just as He can compensate for our weaknesses. When we pray for strength and support, He can make up the difference as an act of grace. In this regard, the Lord said to Moroni: “And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them” (Ether 12:27).
