“I Bid You an Everlasting Farewell”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Nephi engraved his final testimony that these are the words of Christ, and to anyone who will not accept his testimony he bade “an everlasting farewell.” At the last day, Christ himself will personally verify the truth of these things, and Nephi will be there at the judgment bar to confirm one final time that his testimony is true. All this is parallel to Moroni’s same witness at the end of the Book of Mormon. He, too, testified of the truth of these things (Moroni 10:3–5), assuring everyone that at the last day Christ will show the truth of what is written (Moroni 10:29) Moroni, too, will be at the judgment bar to confirm one final time that his testimony is true (Moroni 10:27, 34). Nephi and Moroni stand as beginning and ending testators to this monumental testament of Jesus Christ.
