“Steadfastness in Christ”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Here Nephi identifies the best meal sure of spiritual maturity: one is “steadfast in Christ” when he pursues an undeviating course of obedience and righteousness.

“Press Forward with a Steadfastness in Christ”

Having identified baptism as the gate to the path leading to eternal life, Nephi now emphasizes the necessity of our “pressing forward” and being steadfast in Christ.

Those who feast upon the word of Christ and endure in faith to the end are promised that the time will come when the voice of the Lord will speak to them saying: “Ye shall have eternal life.” Similarly, the Lord said to those of our day who faithfully follow the same path and are scaled by the Holy Spirit of Promise that “it shall be said unto them- Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection” (D&C 132:19).
