“Except Ye Shall Keep the Commandments of God Ye Shall… Perish”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
There is no salvation in sin. Christ came to save men “from their sins,” not in them (Matthew 1:21; Alma 11:34-37; 3 Nephi 9:21). It is an eternal verity that “no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of God” (Alma 40:26). To those of our dispensation the Lord has said: “All who will have a blessing at my hands shall abide the law which was appointed for that blessing, and the conditions thereof, as were instituted from before the foundation of the world” (D&C 132:5). Thus there are no covenants that are of “efficacy, virtue, or force” that have not been sustained by righteousness.
