“They Rob the Poor Because of Their Fine Sanctuaries”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

A church which has not the inclination or the power to save a person from want and starvation has not the power to save his soul from hell. In addressing those claiming to be the shepherds of Israel, the spiritual leaders during the days of Ezekiel, Jehovah said:

“Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord; as I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; . . . I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock.”

(Ezekiel 34:7-8, 10)
