Wo Unto Them That Seek Deep to Hide Their Counsel from the Lord

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Some of the Jews, at the time covered by the prophecy of Isaiah, were planning an alliance with Egypt, hoping to hide their conspiracy from the prophet, and even from the Lord. "Who seeth us? Who knoweth us?" they asked. The Prophet answered that God does see and know their secret work, although done in the dark. Nephi applies this prophecy on the conditions prevalent during the last days, when men would have similar ideas about the indifference of the Almighty to human affairs. Nephi says he is not indifferent. He knows "all their works."
