“I Will Proceed to Do a Marvelous Work Among This People”

Brant Gardner

Reference: Verse 26 has minor changes to Isaiah 29:14: “Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, yea, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise menand learned shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.” The context continues to differ from Isaiah’s, of course, with the modern referent being not only the “wise” man who could not read the sealed book, but also including the modern apostate Gentile nation, whose self-wisdom will be confounded by the evidence presented through the righteous words of Nephi’s people.
