“In Six Hundred Years”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

We are here informed that prophets had stated that the Messiah would come 600 years from the exodus of Lehi (comp. 19:8). This, however, does not furnish a clue to the actual year of the birth of Jesus, counting, for instance from the year of the foundation of Rome, which is generally given as 753B. C. The popular view is that the Nativity occurred 4 years, but some scholars place it as much as from 5 to 7 years, before Christ.
