Nephi's case in point for the cycle of prophetic prediction/destruction is the one with which he is intimately familiar, the destruction of Jerusalem that occasioned his family's departure. His evidence for this is his own revelation, providing him with a reality greater than had the source been fellow travelers during their long years in the wilderness.
