“The Purpose That Is Purposed Upon the Whole Earth”

Brant Gardner

Literature: Verses 26 and 27 are paralleled in meaning and general phraseology. The first clause in verse 26 notes Yahweh’s “purpose” is “purposed upon the whole earth.” This is paralleled to verse 27’s “Lord of Hosts hath purposed.” Similarly, the final phrase in both verses notes that Yahweh’s hand is stretched out. The outstretched hand is the symbol of intentional action. Yahweh has decreed what will happen, and he is going to do it.
