In Ludlow’s terms, this is the eschatological remnant, the second but final gathering. The first time was the temporal remnant in historical time. This gathering at the end of time, in contrast, will be the final and complete reunion of Yahweh’s people. Because Nephi had already interpreted those scattered to the isles of the sea as his people, this verse would have a particular and immediate resonance for the Nephites.
