“The Rod of Mine Anger”

Text: A new chapter should begin here. Not only do the first four verses belong with the poem of the previous chapter, but a new subject begins here. Instead of the destruction of Israel and Judah, Yahweh describes Assyria as the instrument of his “anger.” “Rod” symbolizes the authority of the bearer. (See commentary accompanying 2 Nephi 19:3–4.)
