“Isaiah’s prophecy concerning the pending invasion of Assyria will be fulfilled within two or three years. The time element is set forth in the prophecy that Assyria will capture Damascus, Syria, Samaria, and Israel before Maher-shalal-hash-baz is able to say My father, and my mother. (Young children are able to say simple phrases … near the age of two.) The prophecy was fulfilled in 734–732 B.C. when Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, captured the Galilee region, the Jezreel Valley, and Transjordan, and plundered their riches” (Parry et al., Understanding Isaiah, 82).
