The prophecy in 2 Nephi 17:16–24 seems to be a prophecy against the kingdom of Israel (Ephraim) declaring that the confederacy between Ephraim and Syria would be broken:
“The land that thou abhorrest [the northern kingdom of Israel] shall be forsaken of both her kings [Ephraim’s and Syria’s]”
(v. 16).
This prophecy was fulfilled when Assyria overran the land in 721 B.C.
