Ahaz already knows of the alliance between Syria and Israel but may not know they intend to weaken Judah enough to install their own puppet king, the son of Tabeal, who is never identified by his own name. Isaiah prophetically assures Ahaz that Yahweh will not allow this plan to succeed.
