“If Ye Will Not Believe surely Ye Shall Not Be Established”

W. Cleon Skousen

Imagine the indignation of King Ahaz of Judah when Isaiah told him not to mobilize his troops and not to prepare to defend Jerusalem. In verse 7 the Lord is saying through Isaiah that if the Jews take the Lord's advice and remain quiet, there will be no attack. In verse 8 Isaiah prophesies that in 65 years both of these nations will cease to exist, but you can well imagine how the king of the Jews reacted to this prophecy. What did he care about something that will happen in the next 65 years. The threat was now. Two great armies would soon be at the gates of Jerusalem.
