Isaiah understands that Israel is condemning themselves, and not that God is preventing their repentance. He sees the hardness of Israel’s heart, and asks the Lord how long Judah will continue in these perverse ways. The Lord answers that they will continue until a devastation will come. There are consequences coming for Israel’s obstinance. The consequences will be cities wasted and populations decimated.
