“The Show of Their Countenance Doth Witness Against Them”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Note the use of future perfect tense verbs, as if future events and conditions are accomplished realities (see commentary at Mosiah 16:6).

Our ultimate objective, of course, is to have God’s image engraven in our countenance (Alma 5:14, 19). Our outward appearance reflects our inner character. People are openly and willfully sinning, not even trying to hide it; sin is visible in their faces. Immorality is blatantly promoted in society—then and now. Some people actively endeavor to change laws to legalize so as to facilitate their sins and perversions.

The righteous and the wicked will always get what they deserve (see also D&C 29:27–28).
