Isaiah says the people will have become so degraded and degenerate that the pockmarks of immorality and disease will show in their faces like the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. Nevertheless, the people will have to admit that the ruins all around them will be the sordid fruit of the own evil ways.
By way of contrast, the righteous will receive many blessings and people will know that this is the good fruit that comes from living a good life.
