Isaiah predicts that preaching Yahweh’s “way” through the prophet and temple will result in the cessation of strife and conflict—not just warfare but, symbolically, any conflict among human beings. Isaiah is seeing an apocalyptic vision, one in which the eventual return of Yahweh’s law to all nations will inaugurate worldwide peace. Obviously, this prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. The Messiah’s rule will usher in this peace.
