“By the Power of the Atonement”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Note that Jacob, closes his sermon with a final testimony that it is through the Atonement of Christ alone that man can gain an entrance into the eternal kingdom of God, there to praise him for his grace divine. That is the sum and substance of the sermon. And it is stated in sentences which, through their beauty of literary style bear the marks of divine inspiration in every word.

Christ died: His love and his atoning death we preach.

Christ rose, and thus broke down the awful gates of hell.

Christ went to heav'nly glory, as the Scriptures teach;

The universal choir soon sings that, "All is Well."
