“The Isles of the Sea”

Brant Gardner

Jacob begins his conclusion, summarizing each of the major themes he has covered in his two-day sermon. He has just completed his discussion of the promise that the righteous will be blessed with liberty and now combines that promise with those involving redemption from sin. He reminds his congregation to remember Yahweh and his promises. They must reject their sins, because their liberty depends on their righteousness. He repeats that they are on “an isle of the sea” and therefore heirs to Isaiah’s prophecy.
