“Remember, to Be Carnally–minded Is Death”

Brant Gardner

Verse 39 continues the theme of verse 38 but also makes the transition between woe and blessing by articulating the life/death // spiritually-minded/carnally-minded dichotomy. Jacob uses these opposed parallels as the definitional poles of existence. The carnally minded will die eternally because they will not repent. The spiritually minded will live eternally because they will repent.
