“When They Are Learned they Think They Are Wise”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Paul wrote that “knowledge puffeth up” (1 Corinthians 8:1)—much knowledge can be dangerous to us if we succumb to pride. We get in trouble when we think we know better than God, or when we think we are above some commandment. We quickly find ourselves in serious trouble when we consider ourselves an exception to a rule. On the other hand, knowledge of all kinds (especially of godly things) is commendable and desirable—if we keep our hearts open to the counsel of God (2 Nephi 9:42).
