He Has Given a Law; But Wo Unto Him That Has the Law Given That Wasteth the Days of His Probation

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

The words of Jacob raise a question for those who consider carefully their place in the design of the Almighty. Where no law is given, the mercies of the Holy One prevail unto deliverance. But we have been given the commandments from God in order to achieve happiness through obedience (see Mosiah 2:41). Every day consists of twenty-four hours that sometimes flee away into oblivion because we fail to organize every needful thing (see D&C 88:119; 109:8, 15). Thus, the questions of conscience become, Do we take the time to plan and make happiness our pursuit (see Alma 27:18)? How do we use our time? Are our priorities in keeping the commandments of God?
