“If They Will Hearken Unto His Voice”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
We believe that ... all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel (Articles of Faith 1:3; italics added). Not all will be saved, however, for they will not all receive the Lord in the fullest sense—they will not hear his voice as delivered through his servants the prophets, particularly those called in their own day. The fulness of salvation is reserved for those who believe and obey. Of those who will inherit the telestial kingdom, the Lord said that these are they who “received not the gospel, neither the testimony of Jesus, neither the prophets, neither the everlasting covenant” (D&C 76:101).
