“They Who Are Righteous Shall Be Righteous Still”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Amulek’s testimony that “that same spirit which cloth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life… . will have power to possess your body in that eternal world” (Alma 34:34) is as positive for the righteous as it is negative for the wicked.

That I to say, those who leave this world loving truth and seeking righteousness will continue with those same desires into the world of spirits among persons of like disposition.

They will, according to the “law of restoration” (Alma 41-42), come forth from the grave quickened with celestial glory, a portion of which they enjoyed in mortality as they chose to abide by a celestial law (see D&C 88:27-29). In the words of Jacob, they “shall be righteous still.”
