“It is by the Power of the Resurrection of the Holy One of Israel”

W. Cleon Skousen

Jacob rejoices in the ultimate victory of God over both death and hell. Even those who fail to take advantage of the plan of salvation will ultimately be rescued from the captivity of the grave and the spirit prison when they have paid for their sins. The eventual redemption of the wicked is described in Doctrine and Covenants 76:36-40. All but the sons of perdition will be redeemed either by accepting the atonement of Jesus Christ or suffering for their own sins until they have paid the uttermost farthing.

Sometime we may wonder why God can stand by and watch people do such cruel and vision things, but he knows that for everything -- every cruel thing that they have done -- they will pay and pay and pay. And, as it says in the Doctrine and Covenants, they will eventually be allowed to come out after all of the intelligences, and even their victims, are satisfied that they have suffered enough.
