Evidence: Fell from Before—Compound Prepositions

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

A characteristic feature of Hebrew grammar is compound prepositions. Some examples from English translations of the Old Testament include from before, from behind, and to behind. With its Hebrew roots, it is not surprising that the Book of Mormon also includes compound prepositions. For example, in addition to its appearance in 2 Nephi 9:8, we see the use of the compound preposition from before in Mosiah 17:4, Alma 44:12, and 3 Nephi 4:12. (See Echoes, 172–173.)
