“If the Flesh Should Rise No More Our Spirits Must Become Subject to That Angel Who Fell from Before the Presence of the Eternal God”

W. Cleon Skousen

What does Jacob mean when he says there must be an infinite atonement? Infinite means universal. It means that the agonizing and suffering of Christ must arouse the compassion of every single intelligence in this round of the Father’s creation. Only then can the Savior intercede for us and ask the intelligences from whom the Father receives his power to let us return to the Father. This plea by the Savior will be found in the Doctrine and Covenants 45:3-5.

Enoch was allowed to see the impact of the Savior‘s suffering on all of the intelligences connected with this round of the Father’s creation and he says that it had such an infinite impact that it aroused the compassion of every single intelligence to the point where it overcame the demands of justice. Of course Jesus will only intercede for those souls who have repented or who have suffered for their sins to the uttermost farthing.
