“For As Death Hath Passed Upon All Men to Fulfil the Merciful Plan”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

It was not intended that any be spared the experience of death, for that would deny them the eternal happiness that can only come in the resurrection (see Alma 42:8; D&C 93:33-34).

“They Did Seek to Take Away My Life”

Surely Nephi was not without fault. Yet if the question is one of discerning spirits, that hateful spirit that forever thirsts for the blood of the Lord’s anointed can ever be identified as emanating from the prince of darkness. The promise of the Savior to the meridian Twelve that they would be hated by all nations for his sake (Joseph Smith Matthew 1:7) has been the common lot of the faithful Saints in all ages (see D&C 138:12-13). One cannot do the Lord’s work without offending the devil.
