“Death Hath Passed Upon All… to Fulfill the Merciful Plan”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Life. Death. To the Latter-day Saint the two are not so much opposite as they are points on the eternal spectrum. Birth and death are inextricably intertwined, the words being defined in terms of one another.

We are born to die and die to live. Life’s starkest reality is death. Death is the common lot of all mankind, this in spite of earthly status and accomplishments. Every man or woman is born and every man or woman will die. All are born as helpless infants, and all are equally helpless in the face of death.
