The object of reading the Scriptures is, and should always be, to obtain knowledge of the plan of salvation; and more especially as this plan concerns our children and descendants, since it is the sacred duty of parents, as the representatives of God in the family, to transmit the knowledge they need for development and progress in all that is good and therefore promotive of temporal and eternal happiness.
