Peter also saw the day when the heavens and the earth would pass away with great noise, fire, fervent heat, and melting elements (2 Peter 3:10–13). The earth is also a living entity; it must die and be resurrected. President Joseph Fielding Smith wrote, “The earth, as a living body, will have to die and be resurrected, for it, too, has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.” 11 The Lord provides life for eternity.
