Jacob had also seen the great gathering of God's people in the latter days. But he says there will be a great purging of the wicked who reject the Savior and the restoration of the gospel. The judgments of God will descend on the wicked in catastrophic quantities by fire, tempest, earthquakes, war, pestilence and famine. Those who try to hold the children of Israel captive will be imprisoned themselves. And those who make war against God's people will suffer terrible afflictions for God will redeem his people in the latter days. The 21st chapter of 3 Nephi covers in great detail the cleansing of America, and we will come to that in due time.
