“Blessed Are the Gentiles, They of Whom the Prophet Has Written”

Brant Gardner

Jacob now focuses on his Isaiah text. Its point is not simply the redemption of Israel, but redemption through the Gentiles. In verse 12, Jacob continues his own exegesis: “They of whom the prophet has written” is an appositive of “Gentiles,” making it clear that they are those of whom Isaiah wrote. Then Jacob continues his explanation that the Gentiles will be the means of blessing Israel, if they are righteous.
