While the Messiah comes to those in Jerusalem, they will reject him and suffer the “judgments” of being “smitten and afflicted.” In other words, the redemption by the Gentiles will occur after the destruction of Jerusalem, after the return to Jerusalem, and after the Messiah’s mission among them. Jacob is placing this redemption firmly in the future.
