Since the place of first landing had been along the seashore we assume that Nephi's flight for many days was toward the east. As they began to settled down in their new location the people wanted to name the area Nephi. They must have gone so far that they began to feel fairly safe because they began to raise crops and raise up their flocks. They would never have guessed how famous this community of Nephi would become as the years went by.
