“The Consuming of My Flesh”

Brant Gardner

Nephi alludes to experiences with the Spirit so powerful that it has resulted in physiological consequences for him. Perhaps “the consuming of my flesh” parallels descriptions of the Spirit as a “burning.” In inadequate human words, Nephi is attempting to describe the sensation of being filled with the Spirit.
