“The Feelings of His Heart and the Spirit of the Lord”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

With Lehi’s passing, we see the transition into the spiritual realm of a man who has played two eternal roles: that of a loving and exemplary parent, and that of a prophet or servant of God. All parents in Zion play these two roles—for all have the opportunity to be guardians of, and counselors to, their families while at the same time all have callings of various kinds in the Church and kingdom of heaven. That raises an important question of conscience for us all: Do we infuse our dual roles with optimum balance and devotion, as did Lehi? Do we blend our service to God and family in such a way that the Spirit can guide us to be effective on both fronts?
