Although Nephi's brother Sam evidently had children (2 Nephi 4:11), there are no "Samites" mentioned in the Book of Mormon. Perhaps Lehi's promise to Sam that his seed would be numbered with the seed of Nephi (2 Nephi 4:11) helps to explain why the record does not refer to "Samites," whereas the descendants of the other sons of Lehi are referred to as Lamanites, Lemuelites, Nephites, Jacobites, and Josephites (Jacob 1:13).
