“Sam”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Lehi blesses his third son. His name is Egyptian. It was the name of the chief priest of the priesthood of Ptah, at Memphis, the primordial god who, according to Egyptian ideas, furnished Ra the elements out of which the world was organized. (Paul Pierret, Dictionaire d'Archeologie Egyptienne, Paris, 1875, p. 490) Lehi, in his blessing, links him and his descendants to Nephi and the offspring of this younger brother.
