“They Are Written Upon the Plates of Brass”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

It was Nephi who, at the peril of his life, retrieved the brass plates of Laban according to the commandments of God. Surely Nephi must have rejoiced to witness the power of the scriptural message from his ancestor, Joseph, as cited by Lehi. Nephi now comments on the promises of God concerning Lehi’s posterity conveyed through Joseph’s prophesies. Those in the latter days who are of the lineage of Joseph, through Ephraim and Manasseh, can also rejoice to know the origin of the covenant blessings to which they have access by the goodness and mercy of a loving Father in Heaven. That is one of the key benefits for students of the Book of Mormon, according to Moroni’s preface, “that they may know the covenants of the Lord.”
