Now we learn from the brass plates the actual name of this prophet in the latter days. His name would be Joseph. His father's name would also be Joseph. One can only imagine the feelings of Joseph Smith as he dictated these passages of holy scripture and recognized that they were talking about himself. So this humble young farm boy turns out to be that Joseph who was a direct descendant of Joseph who was sold into Egypt. In fact, he must have been thrilled to discover that both he and his father were mentioned in this prophecy by name! To this young, unschooled New York farm boy, this exciting discovery must have been fantastic.
